Update: 2018 Pilgrimage to Italy – April 11-19

rome pil

Greetings All,

Thanks to those of you who have already notified Peter’s Way that you will be on board Alitalia with us next April for a wonderful visit to Assisi and Orvieto, before we park ourselves in Rome for the tour of a lifetime.  For those of you who were considering joining fellow Knights, Ladies, and Clergy members, we have attached the brochure and a separate enrollment form to make it easy for you to lock down your seats!!  We are pleased to announce that our spiritual leader will be Reverend Monsignor James P. Moroney, KCHS, Rector of St. John Seminary, who we are sure will dazzle us with his wealth of knowledge about the Eternal City and his personal experiences inside the Vatican.  Our tour guide for the pilgrimage will be familiar to those of you who have accompanied us to the Holy Land in either 2011, 2015, and most recently 2017.  It is Fabricio Lomanto, who we now call a friend, and who lives a short distance from Assisi.

Whether you have been to Assisi, Orvieto or the Eternal Citybefore, or are contemplating your first trip there, you will not regret  your decision to be with us.  Our journey begins with a visit to the land of St. Francis and St. Clare where we will celebrate Mass at the Basilicas of Santa Maria degli Angeli and St. Francis, and visit the Church of San Domiano.  We will stop in Orvieto and cElebrate Mass at the Cathedral of Orvieto, where a Eucharistic Miracle is preserved.  We will enjoy lunches and dinners together in Assisi and Orvieto and taste the wines of these famous regions of Italy before we travel to our final destination.

You will be free to have dinner at a location of your choice on our first night in Rome.   We have tried our best to make sure that you do not miss a thing, so after a good night’s rest, we will hit the ground running the next morning.   During our stay we will visit the  four highest ranking Roman Catholic church buildings – all of which are known as Major or  Papal basilicas, beginning with the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran (the seat of the Pope and the oldest and first in rank), St. Peter’s Basilica, Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, and the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, also known as St. Mary Major. You will have the opportunity to enjoy walking through areas of the city you have read about or seen in movies as we tour the Roman Forum, Coliseum and the Pantheon, have lunch in Pizza Navona, sit for a while in the midst of hundreds of Azaleas on the Spanish Steps, and toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain.  You may think all that all describes the entire visit to Rome – but it isn’t even close!  I have left out a few stops and I may have missed a thing or two, but I did not forget aboutMichelangelo’s Pieta in St. Peter’s and his Moses in the Church of St. Peter in Chains, the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and the optional Scavi tour!  And believe it or not even with all those stops, there will still be time for you to journey out on your own for lunch, dinner, and shopping along the way.

You’ve often heard it said “we saved the best for last” and so it will be with this adventure, as on our final day in Rome we will attend the Wednesday morning audience with the Holy Father in St. Peter’s Square.  We will end our final day on pilgrimage with a “farewell dinner” in a beautiful setting before our last overnight in the Eternal City.  After breakfast the next morning, we are off to the airport for our return flight, and back to reality!

So what are you waiting for?!!  Print and complete the EOHSJNE 2018 Pilgrimage Enrollment Form. Fax, scan, mail or email it to Peter’s Way today!  While you are at it, please drop us a note to let us know when you have registered so we will be sure to include you in upcoming emails about the trip.

If you have any questions, please call and I will try to answer them for you or get you the answer if I don’t have it.

Blessings,

Cynthia

PS – Oops!  I almost forgot to let you know that we were able to make an adjustment and the tour price will also include:  all gratuities for both our tour guide and the local guides who will join us along the way.  In addition we will add a lunch/dinner during our travels, where we can arrange it.
